Song Ta, artist, born in 1988 in Guangdong, China and graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2010. He received the Asian Cultural Council Grant from the Rockefeller Foundation in New York, USA in 2015. He received the Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Award from the Porto City Council in Portugal in 2020.
Recent solo exhibitions include: “Song Ta Visits Taiwan” (Hy-phen Art Center, Taipei, 2022), “Hanfu Architecture + Gel Pen Calligraphy” (Zhiwu, Shanghai, 2021), “Song Ta’s Paintings: 1999-2020” (Beijing Commune, Beijing, 2020), etc. His works have been exhibited in many contemporary art institutions, including the National Museum of Indonesia; Julia Stoschek Collection Foundation in Düsseldorf, Germany; Nassau Kunstverein in Wiesbaden, Germany; Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing; Kunstmuseum Bern in Switzerland; Marres Center for Contemporary Art in Maastricht, Netherlands; CASS Sculpture Foundation in the UK; Asia Cultural Center in Gwangju, South Korea; Paul Klee Museum, Switzerland; Municipal Museum of Porto, Portugal; Sharjah Art Foundation in the United Arab Emirates; Kunstmuseum Bregenz in Austria; Kunstmuseum Lund in Sweden; Guangdong Times Art Museum, etc.
He has also participated in the 19th Jakarta Biennale, the 4th New Museum Triennial in New York, the 8th Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale, and the 6th Home Works: A Forum on Cultural Practices (Ashkal Alwan, Beirut, Lebanon). Public collections include M+ Museum of Visual Culture in Hong Kong, Kadist Art Foundation in San Francisco, USA/Paris, France, and New Century Art Foundation in Beijing.
