Wu Junyong, artist, born in 1978 in Putian, China. He currently lives and works in Hangzhou. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from China Academy of Art in 2000 and 2005, respectively.
Wu Junyong’s creative works come in various forms, including animation theater, painting, improvised tattoos, and the internet. His works are marked by unique textual and visual games, intertwined with reinterpretations of fables, legends, myths, and allusions. In a creative manner, he explores the absurdity present in contemporary society and political life, using imagery to release the struggles and dilemmas embedded within these absurd landscapes.
Since 2002, his works have been widely exhibited both domestically and internationally, and have been collected by numerous museums, institutions, and private collectors. His recent solo exhibition, “Otherworldly Realm,” was on display at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA.
